Floral arrangements are a cornerstone of every great event. Choosing the right foliage and flowers isn’t always as simple as one might think. We’ve put together five tips, thanks to Biz Bash, for event professionals to consider when working with flowers:

  1. Budget– Flowers can get pricey quickly, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find options that are wallet-friendly. Choices such as magnolia, green foliage, and carnations can bring a beautiful pop to your space without breaking the bank.
  2. Weather– Consider what the weather will be like when choosing plants. An outdoor event full of extreme summer heat will not bode well for delicate flowers. Be cautious if you’re using hydrangeas or tulips in hot weather climates as they tend to droop and wither.
  3. Seasonality– In addition to the weather being a key factor in the decision-making process, the season of the flowers can come into play as well. Choosing flowers in season will not only result in a beautiful bloom but lower prices.
  4. Timing– We’ve all heard the saying, “Time waits for no man,” and the same is true for flowers. Get your flowers while they have closed buds, so you can control the process of how they open for the event.
  5. Donations– After the event is over, consider donating the flowers to organizations or local hospitals in your area. Contact the organization in advance to let them know you plan on donating.
