We’ve all heard it: reduce, reuse, recycle. It’s important to practice sustainability in our day-to-day lives, but how can sustainability come into play at a corporate conference or wedding? Here are a few tips on how to practice sustainability at your next event.
1. Use reusable plates, cups, and napkins
Did you know? According to the Earth Day Network, the world uses 16 billion disposable coffee cups each year! Eliminate waste by using reusable plates, cups, and napkins at your next event.
2. Choose your food quantities carefully
This may sound obvious, but try to use the exact number of people attending your event when you’re ordering food. Typically, many leftovers get thrown away. If you happen to over-order food for you event, consider finding a place to donate the food to those in need.
Whether it’s digital invites, e-tickets, or even important conference collateral like handouts, try to use digital versions as much as possible. If you do need to print handouts or schedules, make sure they’re double-sided, and recycle as much as you can.
4. Don’t brand signage with a date
Of course, you will need to have your brand’s logo and signage at your event! If there is not a year or date on your brand materials, they can be reused year after year enabling you to save green in more ways than one.
5. Encourage rideshare
Be mindful of how your attendees are going to reach your event’s venue. Here at MEET Las Vegas, we’re lucky to be within walking distance of multiple hotels where your attendees can stay. If your guests want to explore the Las Vegas strip during their time off, encourage them to ride together using a rideshare app like Lyft or Uber. Same goes for travelling to and from the airport, however, check with your hotel to see if they have a shuttle!
